Located at the entrance to the Old Port, Mucem is the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilization. It hosts exhibitions and artistic and cultural events. Mucem is a museum of society. It evokes the relationships and lifestyles of the people of Europe and the Mediterranean, past and present.

The Destination Mucem bus travels around the city, taking you straight to the museum. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover Mucem’s new exhibitions, take a stroll in the gardens of Fort Saint-Jean, enjoy a picnic, or simply relax and admire the sea view. A warm and special welcome is reserved for visitors, both on the bus and at Mucem.

Destination Mucem is expanding its range of services and now offers easy access to the museum thanks to a clean, comfortable bus that is accessible to people with disabilities. The bus welcomes young and old alike, whether you’re coming as a group, solo, with friends or family, so that everyone can take full advantage of Mucem’s wealth of attractions.

The Destination Mucem bus also runs on certain weekday dates. It’s reserved for groups from schools, leisure centers, social organizations and associations in Marseille, the surrounding area and even rural areas. Together, visit an exhibition during the day or discover the museum’s cultural program in the evening.

Sunday with Destination Mucem

After the bus journey, arrive at the Mucem at 11 a.m. for a guided tour of an exhibition. A picnic area is available at Fort Saint-Jean.
In the afternoon, continue your visits independently, take part in workshops or stroll through the museum and gardens.
Return by bus at 3pm. A guide accompanies you throughout the day. On Sundays, the bus alternates between the east, south and north of Marseille, stopping mainly at existing bus stops. Additional stops can be requested at the time of booking.

The Destination Mucem bus is now accessible to wheelchair users (1 or 2 places available).
And what’s more, the bus is packed with surprises!

The journey becomes a moment of discovery and pleasure: let yourself be carried away by the artistic performances – magic, song, dance – regularly offered by artists on board the bus. An invitation to experience culture in a different way, in preparation for your visit to the museum!

The week with Destination Mucem

Once again this year, Destination Mucem is available on selected weekday dates for schools, leisure centers, social organizations and associations. In groups, plan a visit to an exhibition from Monday to Friday, or discover the cultural program in the evening.

Destination Mucem is a 100% free offer (bus + activity at the Mucem) reserved for leisure centers located in Bouches-du-Rhône’s Priority Urban Neighborhoods (QPV).

For school groups

Departure is at 9:30 a.m. from the bus stop nearest your school or college.
On arrival at the Mucem, a guide awaits you for a tour of the exhibition, before returning by bus after the lunch break.

Destination Mucem is a 100% free offer (bus + activity at the Mucem) reserved for schools located in Marseille’s priority education networks (REP/REP+).

Available from Monday November 3, 2025 to Friday July 3, 2026,
on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

For leisure centers, social structures and associations

Exhibition visits
Departure at 9:30 am from the bus stop nearest to your accommodation.
On arrival at Mucem, a guide awaits you for an exhibition visit, then return by bus after the lunch break.

From Wednesday, November 5, 2025 to Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Wednesday mornings only.
From July 6 to 31, 2026, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

One-off events

Throughout the year, the Mucem organizes cultural events that may or may not be linked to its exhibitions.
A chance to experience the museum in a different way: discover Saint-Michel l’Observatoire, Mucem (Re)Mix, World Football Day, summer evening programs…

See you at home

Destination Mucem is also a series of participatory workshops on photography, theater, dance and sports, organized throughout the year in the neighborhoods where the bus runs.

And on request, a presentation of the Destination Mucem program and the museum’s offer, at your premises.

Destination Mucem is 100% free (bus + museum). To take advantage of the scheme, advance booking is essential.

Users will receive practical information at the time of booking.

The Mucem has a checkroom
To facilitate on-site visits, the Mucem provides strollers for children, wheelchairs and folding stools.
For lunch, a picnic area is available at Fort Saint-Jean (bring your own picnic).
For safety reasons, metal cutlery and glass containers are not allowed in the museum (security check).
