1h30This historical tour of the fort has a new look this year, with a dramatized version that takes students on a journey through time to the heart of Fort Saint-Jean, from Antiquity to the Middle Ages to modern times. From Massalia to the Mediterranean garden, they travel through the great historical periods, meeting emblematic figures and playing different roles.

Duration: 1hThis tour takes children on a journey of discovery through Mediterranean motherhood. Approached through the metaphor of the family tree, it invites them to reflect on the ties that bind them to their mothers, but also on the place of the maternal figure, pregnancy, domestic work and transmission.

Children set off on a mission in the “Populaire?” exhibition to help Phil the rabbit, faithful guardian of the Mucem collections, rediscover his emotions. Eight games in the “Le fabuleux terrier” children’s area complete this quest. An invaluable opportunity to encourage the youngest visitors to better recognize, express and manage their emotions…
Dreaming the Mediterranean - Workshop-visit in conjunction with the "Mediterranean" exhibition

Duration: 1h30Through the “Méditerranées” exhibition, students discover how works, objects and stories have constructed dream images of the Mediterranean. The workshop continues with the pop-up card principle. Using the themes of the exhibition – architecture, nature and objects – they create their own map, using two three-dimensional sets. A time for observation and feedback allows them to share their creations and make links with the works on display.

Duration: 1h30Following a tour of the exhibition and the world of fashion designer Mossi Traoré, the workshop invites students to create key rings and pendants from recycled fabrics and materials, in an upcycling approach. Inspired by the museum’s collections and Mossi Traoré’s work, they explore emblems linked to the exhibition’s heritage and motifs to design unique accessories.

The Conservation and Resource Centre
Located in Belle de Mai, the Centre de Conservation et de Ressources (CCR) is dedicated to the conservation and dissemination of Mucem’s collections. The model apartment is one of 17 storerooms that showcase the diversity of the museum’s holdings and reveal what goes on behind the scenes. A reading room is also available for consulting archives and books, and for borrowing the latter.

Guided tour, depending on class project.An unusual visit to discover what goes on behind the scenes at Mucem in one of the museum’s largest storerooms, worthy of Ali Baba’s cave! The themes are as varied as the collections: crafts, puppets, music, sports, etc.

The three monotheisms
Public: CM1-CM2 / Duration: 2h.
Workshop visit.A visit where you’ll discover objects, often domestic, that bear witness to the beliefs of the three monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). Through observation, drawing, analysis and dialogue, students will discern the often overlooked commonalities between these monotheistic religions.

The Mucem is continuing its off-site activities. Welcome a guide to your classroom for a workshop on the Mucem’s collections and exhibitions (booking required, see Practical Information).

Off-site workshop in Marseille.Pupils create a collective booklet, using silk-screen stamps and visuals, to record the main stages of folk tales.
