Internship in the Communications Department

  • Duration: 6 months from June 22

    Who we are

    Mucem is a national museum inaugurated in Marseille in 2013. An offshoot of the Musée National des Arts et Traditions Populaires, it is dedicated to European and Mediterranean cultures. At the crossroads of the humanities and the arts, the museum organizes exhibitions, conferences and events, and conserves over a million objects and documents. Its activities are spread over three sites: the J4, Fort Saint-Jean (near the Old Port), and the Centre de Conservation et de Ressources (CCR) in the Belle de Mai district. As of December 31, 2024, Mucem employed 133 people. Its workforce is made up of civil servants and public-sector contract employees. Apprentices on sandwich courses, subsidized contracts, civic service volunteers, post-doctoral researchers, intermittent entertainment workers and honorary interns reinforce the permanent teams.

    Department presentation

    The incumbent will report to the Communications Department (DCOM), whose main mission is to contribute to the development of Mucem’s reputation, and to participate in the production of emotional and engaging content for audiences through various media. The DCOM manages press relations, social networks, the website, media campaigns, visual identity and communication supports (7 people and one intern). The communications department also works in collaboration with service providers, including a graphic design studio, audiovisual production agencies, a media agency, a press relations agency, a copywriter and printers.

    Main tasks of the profile sought

    Communication campaign :

    • Monitor production of print media with service providers and control delivery of digital media
    • Follow-up of the media planning table with the graphic designer and control of file deliveries to advertising agencies
    • Prepare and update communication plans in conjunction with the entire team
    • Drafting and follow-up of weekly inserts in La Provence newspaper and other similar publications in partner media (BFM TV, etc.).
    • Graphic design, illustration and motion design watch

    Web and social networks :

    • Help with designing newsletters for the general public
    • Help with editing social network publications and putting agendas online
    • Support for influence-related actions
    • Support in creating photos or videos for social networks
    • Website support, updates, integration
    • Monitoring partnerships with local and regional contemporary art networks

    Press Relations :

    • Participation in setting up press events (press conferences or press trips, press and influencer visits, etc.).
    • Support for journalists in theatres for radio, TV, print and web reports.
    • Press file updates
    • Participation in the management of various press dashboards
    • Press editorial watch
    • Contribution to targeted press reviews
    • Press room updates

    Profile required

    Degree level: Master’s 2 in communications

    Technical skills

    • Good command of Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of civil service organization
    • Knowledge of the museum perimeter

    Conditions

    • Full-time for 147 hours/month
    • Under internship agreement
    • Position to be filled from June 22, 2026
    • Monthly bonus: €661.50 for full-time work (147 hours), i.e. €4.50/hour (15% of the 2026 social security hourly ceiling).
    • Meal vouchers worth €9 (60% paid by the employer), i.e. €3.60 paid by the trainee per day worked
    • Reimbursement of 75% of the monthly or annual RTM transport pass on production of supporting documents.
