After visiting the exhibition, young people debate representations of the Mediterranean. Using images, they develop their critical faculties, confront their points of view and question the ways in which history, art and museums view others.

Visit and board game in connection with the “Populaire?” exhibition / Duration: 2 hrs.
In collaboration with the association Les déclencheurs.

After a visit to the “Populaire?” exhibition, a collaborative card game will take you on a journey to different Mediterranean ports. Youngsters will have to get together to find mysterious objects. A fun way to explore the diversity of the collections, with a board game that’s 100% Mucem.

Visit-writing workshop in connection with the “Populaire?” exhibition / Duration: 2 hrs.

Objects have many stories to tell… To tell these objects from the “Populaire?” exhibition in a different way, a writing workshop allows young people to engage their imaginations in a unique exercise: lending their memories, their perceptions and their words to the collections. Whether melancholy, piquant or humorous, it’s your story!

A discovery tour of the exhibition halls and Fort Saint-Jean to get to know the site and understand the vocation of a museum of civilization. Ideal for a first encounter with the Mucem.

Sharpen your eyes with this behind-the-scenes look at the construction of the J4 building by architect Rudy Ricciotti. The tour approaches architecture as a sensory experience.

Visit in conjunction with the Migrations garden / Duration: 1h30.
The Mucem garden has been designed as an open book on the history of plant migrations around the Mediterranean. From olive and fig trees to vines, explore the paths of this garden suspended over the sea.

An unusual visit to discover what goes on behind the scenes at Mucem in one of the museum’s largest storerooms, worthy of Ali Baba’s cave! The themes are as varied as the collections: crafts, puppets, music, sports, etc.

Visit – workshop / Guided tours free of charge (booking required) / Duration: 2h.
A visit to discover objects, often domestic, that bear witness to the beliefs of the three monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). Through observation, drawing, analysis and dialogue, students will discern the often overlooked commonalities between these monotheistic religions.

Visit – workshop / Duration: 2h.
By offering a tour of the museum’s storerooms and a discussion with curatorial professionals, this workshop provides an opportunity to discuss the very notion of heritage in museums, and to reflect on its intangible, ethnological and contemporary dimensions. It also reveals what it means to inventory and document selected objects.
