Students and higher education
As the first national museum dedicated to the Mediterranean, the Mucem studies current phenomena in the Euro-Mediterranean area in all their historical, social and artistic aspects. Located in the heart of Marseille, its primary ambition is to appeal to all publics, including young people and students.
In partnership with Aix-Marseille Université, Beaux-Arts de Marseille and Conservatoire de Marseille Pierre Barbizet – members of the Institut National Supérieur d’Enseignement Artistique Marseille Méditerranée (INSEAMM), École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Marseille (ENSA-M) Sciences Po Aix and EHESS-Campus Marseille, the Mucem offers a special pricing and cultural policy to welcome students individually or in groups.

Research and training
Research and museum professions
Take a behind-the-scenes look at the museum’s scientific activities by taking part in conferences, workshops, seminars, study days and training courses, all of which help to disseminate the human and social sciences’ view of contemporary social issues, and provide food for thought about the museum and its projects. These days are organized in conjunction with laboratories or schools of higher education, and are open to the public free of charge. They take place at the Institut méditerranéen des métiers du patrimoine (Mucem – Fort Saint-Jean). They can be extended to suit students’ needs, in collaboration with the teachers concerned.
The Conservation and Resource Centre
In its Centre de Conservation et de Ressources (CCR), the Mucem, heir to the Musée National des Arts et Traditions Populaires, conserves over a million objects and documents: archives, books, sound and audiovisual collections.
