On June 28, the Mucem invites you to take part in a unique experience by turning down all the noise, to better understand the effects of noise pollution.
As part of its Mucem 2030 strategy, the Mucem reaffirms its ambition to become a Mediterranean “citizen museum” that serves as a model for societal and ecological transitions. Through its CSR initiatives, the museum works with its audiences, partners, and institutions to raise awareness of major contemporary issues.
On June 28, as part of “20 Decibels” Day, the Mucem is offering a unique experience centered on noise pollution—a particularly sensitive issue in Marseille, a city heavily exposed to noise pollution. By limiting all noise within the museum, this event invites everyone to experience silence and gain a better understanding of the effects of noise on our health and our environment.
Readings, storytime naps, whispered poetry, sign language workshops, and screenings of Vincent Munier’s films will punctuate this auditory interlude, all taking place in the Mucem garden at a volume of just 20 decibels.
The program

Library and nap area
