Vegetable dyeing: positive and negative textile printing

Plein air! - Craft cycle

During this workshop, we'll discover a vegetable dyeing technique through the exploration of patterns.

With Anouk Zibaut

Each participant will work from a single design, applied to two different fabrics using two different pastes. The gesture will be identical, but each paste will react differently.

After dyeing, the patterns will appear mirrored, inverted with respect to each other. The result is not immediately visible: it’s when the dye baths are applied that the image reveals itself, leaving room for surprise.

First, we’ll run some tests to understand the technique. Once the tests are completed, each participant can create his or her own design and leave with a tinted scarf.
