The Commission of Inquiry is a workshop for reflection and discussion open to all, during which participants play at thinking, putting points of view into dialogue and embodying different experiences.
For half a day, participants take up the subject of the next Trial of the Century and learn together how to develop arguments and testimonies, some of which can be put on the stand and debated at the next Trial of the Century.
Between the art of persuasion and theater, the Commission of Inquiry brings a civil counterpoint to debates, because the issues of our world are everyone’s business.
A proposal led, depending on the dates, by Grégoire Ingold (director) and Fabienne Jullien (actress) or Carla Azoulay Zerah (actress) and Loïc Renard (actor).
Meet on the 2nd floor of MucemLab from 2pm to 6pm. Access via the Cour de la commande, Mucem entrance at 201 Quai du Port 13002 Marseille.
A few words from participants :
“I enjoyed analyzing a subject that touches me in a friendly atmosphere and with very professional facilitation.”
“For me, commissions of inquiry are a civic space for sharing in the plural: sharing points of view, points of life, experiences, sensitivities, knowledge and ways of articulating the realities that surround us… It’s a political exercise that takes place in a convivial atmosphere, through encounters. What I’ve appreciated about the commissions of inquiry is the fact that human links are forged every Saturday. Weaving your thoughts with those of others never leaves you indifferent.
Half-day schedule
Opening up the proposed theme, investigating the subject and putting it up for debate, constructing testimonies and arguments, taking the floor, collective analysis of the various presentations.
Some of the testimonies produced during the day’s proceedings are presented in the public session of the Trials of the Century on the following Monday evening, alongside invited specialists and witnesses.
Participation in Commission of Inquiry sessions is free, subject to registration. It does not necessarily imply attending or participating in the Monday Trial of the Century. No prerequisites or attendance required. Groups of up to 20 people, working in small groups.
The Trials of the Century are held every Monday at 7pm in the Mucem auditorium, from November 17, 2025 to March 16, 2026.
