L’Ethnologie en héritage is a heritage collection of filmed interviews with leading figures in French ethnology, who tell how they became ethnologists and helped shape French anthropology in all its theoretical, thematic and geographical diversity. They evoke their first field experiences, unfold their itineraries, and retrace the milestones of their careers.
To mark the twentieth anniversary of the collection, initiated and directed by Alain Morel (former Head of Audiovisual at the French Ministry of Culture’s Mission du Patrimoine Ethnologique), director and producer Gilles Le Mao has produced an anniversary film featuring a wealth of anecdotes from the field, based on the testimonies of thirty male and female ethnologists.
