Presentation of the artist

  • Fred Faula

A former high-level karateka who converted to hip-hop, he took his first steps in dance in 1998 in battles with his various crews, then developed his art within professional companies. In 2010, he was crowned French Breakdance Champion and placed third in the World Championship with his team La Smala. A dancer, performer and choreographer based in Bordeaux, he works with a number of structures and artists, including the Hors Série company and accordionist Vincent Peirani, with whom he shares curiosity, a taste for risk and boundless open-mindedness. His encounters, enthusiasm and curiosity lead him to navigate from contemporary to body percussion, from competition to creation, from animation to cultural mediation… seeking to engage both body and mind.
