Digesting Art: Contemporary Iconophagic Practices
Roundtable Discussion on the Exhibition “Eating Images”

Trailer for the exhibition “Eating Images”
To mark the opening of “Manger les images,” the exhibition curators are offering a guided tour followed by a panel discussion featuring several of the contemporary artists featured in the exhibition.
The exhibition explores the incorporation of depicted objects and foods, and the symbolic, ritual, and social dimensions that this evokes. These practices, documented since antiquity, find a particularly vivid expression in contemporary art, through photography, sculpture, and performance. The discussion will center on how artists are reinterpreting and revitalizing these practices today, using the ingestion of images as a tool for anthropological, political, and aesthetic reflection. Very often, the use of edible materials and the consumption of the artwork introduce an ephemeral dimension, while engaging the viewer in a different way.
In the presence of Jérémie Koering, chief curator; Raphaël Bories, associate curator; and Mathilde Badie, exhibition assistant
Featuring the artists Léa Belooussovitch, Nicolas Boulard, Jeff Guess, Erik Nussbicker, and Irène Schwartz.
