With Anne Lopez

When the world turns upside down, the dancer stands tall; he makes imbalance his greatest strength, and his dance exists only in the present, between the imaginary and the real world. Anne Lopez proposes a two-stage workshop process: allowing the dance nested in each person’s body to unfold, then to be written. Dancing, searching for gestures, getting into movement, letting yourself be surprised by the impulse of an idea, a sound, a place or someone else. Improvise, then collect the gestures that will enable the creation of a collective dance as a trace of this shared time.

Choreographer and founder of the company Les gens du quai, Anne Lopez has been developing her own unique style since the 1990s, combining creation, transmission and site-specific performance. Winner of the SACD Nouveau Talent prize in 2004, she has created a number of pieces that have been performed in France and abroad, while also conducting research with autistic people and collaborating with major institutions (Montpellier Opera, ARCAL Paris). Her work explores the crossover between dance, visual arts and pedagogy with rigor and inventiveness.
