OMAR LA FRAISE – Bande-annonce Officielle
A session moderated by Boris Henry and directed by Elias Belkeddar, with the participation of Camille Faucourt, curator and co-curator of the "Méditerranées" exhibition.
Omar la Fraise a film by Elias Belkeddar (France, 2023, 1h40)
With Reda Kateb, Benoît Magimel and Meriem Amiar
Omar is an old-fashioned thug. Sentenced to twenty years in prison in France, he is forced to flee to Algeria with Roger, his long-time sidekick.
By going into exile in a country that isn’t really his own (he’s considered French by the Algerians, and Algerian by the French), Omar aka “La Fraise” discovers another form of marginality, between depression, wandering and attempts at stability. In this setting, where the calm of the desert meets the chaos of the city, where laughter often follows horror, and where drug trafficking gives way to cake-making, his meeting with Samia awakens in him a desire for appeasement. Omar la Fraise tells the story of an unconditional friendship that’s full of humor, tenderness and melancholy.
The session then continues in the forum, providing an opportunity to discuss the film while enjoying a Mediterranean specialty, to the accompaniment of music and board games!
