Festival Tangie

Tangible Festival at the Mucem

From Wednesday, October 15, 2025 to Thursday, October 23, 2025

MucemLab

What is design? Quite a lot, in fact. If, in the collective imagination, the consumer society has drained the word of all its richness, to the point of transforming it into an adjective attached to expensive objects of dubious utility, today it brings together a multitude of creative practices that bring new solutions for the present into everyday life, as well as beauty, poetry, ingenuity and meaning.

A festival initiated and coordinated by Fotokino, in collaboration with Les Beaux-Arts de Marseille, le Couvent Levat, le Cirva, Madar Design, PAC, Voyons voir, le Mucem, la Biennale d’Aix and le [mac]. And in partnership with all the structures and professionals involved in this program.

With the support of Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence.

Walid Bouchouchi founded the Akakir studio in Paris in 2016 before moving to Marseille.
For several years, he has been sharing his research into multiscript through conferences at which he presents his projects and a collection of printed objects gathered over time. For the Tangible festival, he is opening up this dialogue to other viewpoints by inviting designers and typographers Naïma Ben Ayed and Brahim Boucheikha, explorers of Arabic, Latin and Tifinagh scripts, and translator Lotfi Nia, committed to contemporary Arabic literature. Together, they will discuss their personal...

The one-day event on October 23, 2025 at the MucemLab brings together designers, artists, teachers and cultural players for three round-table discussions.
In the morning, a first meeting highlights the Beaux-Arts de Marseille publication retracing 13 years of workshops, and opens up prospects for new collaborations with CIRVA. The afternoon opens with a cross-conversation on the issues of territory and wool, exploring the links between textile practices, raw materials and territorial roots. Finally, the last round table is devoted to student projects around the Parc national des Calanques, questioning ways of managing rather than developing...

  • Guided Tour
The Centre de Conservation et de Ressources du Mucem offers a sensitive discovery of the collections through a three-part tour: a visit to the show apartment focusing on design and craftsmanship, a commented presentation of objects related to domestic uses in the consultation room, and then a visit to the exhibition, highlighting forgotten skills such as millinery, featherwork and flower-making.
