PONANT
Partner of the exhibition Divine Migrations, 24 June 2015—16 November 2015, and Section 2 of the Mediterranean Gallery, 2017—2020.
From exhibition to cruise
Ponant, the only French cruise company, has offered a new style of luxury cruises for nearly 30 years through a unique sea travel concept combining amazing itineraries and 5 star hotel services, aboard luxurious, modestly sized ships.
In 2015, the Mucem partnered with cruise company Ponant, with which it shares the same ties to Marseilles, to create an extraordinary cruise in the wake of the exhibition Divine Migrations.
This innovative collaboration between a museum and a cruise line is an original way to approach or delve deeper into the main topics of the exhibition. The Divine Migrations cruise sailed the Mediterranean from Rome to Athens between 11 and 18 October 2016.
Accompanied by Myriame Morel-Deledalle, the Mucem exhibition curator, the 244 passengers of the Lyrial, a yacht with 122 cabins and suites that was inaugurated in May 2015, were able to explore some of the ancient sites and museums that were the sources of the pieces presented in the exhibition, under very special conditions. They also stopped in Naples (Archeological Museum), Taormina, Katakolon (Olympia), Itea (Delphi), Delos and Kusadasi (Ephesus).
This unique partnership was renewed in 2016: the Mucem and Ponant will offer three cultural cruises designed around the Mucem’s exhibitions, between 2017 and 2019.
