Zachary, 17, is released from prison. Rejected by his mother, he hangs out in the shady banlieues of Marseille. This is where he meets Scheherazade ...
Filmed with non-professional actors, this first film strikes the right tone to evoke, with an almost documentary realism, the daily lives of two teenagers lost between violence and romance.
Césars in 2019 for Best First Film, Best Promising Female Talent and Best Promising Male Talent.
“The starting point was a news item in Marseille from five years ago concerning a small-time pimp. A 16-year old teen on the run was arrested in a city center hotel used by sex workers where he lived with two girls of the same age, who worked as prostitutes. For several months, they lived off proceeds from prostitution. He was accused of procuring, but they felt they were living a love story. It was quite violent between them and gunshots had been exchanged. Nevertheless, the protagonists identified the situation as a love story.”
