Centre for Conservation and Resources
Viewing objects
The CCR has a dedicated viewing room for objects from collections preserved by the Mucem. Upon prior request, objects can be made available for viewing by a steward, who is on hand to answer questions, advise around handling and offer redirections to relevant documentation.
Depending on the nature of the request, an appointment can also be arranged with a member of the museum conservation team.
Viewing documentary resources
The lecture hall of the Centre for Conservation and Resources (CCR) allows for access to Mucem’s archives, library and document assets.
—The archives of manuscript, print, iconographic, sound and audiovisual assets are valuable resources for the study of ethnology, rural and urban societies, oral literature and performance arts.
—The library, which specialises in ethnology and Human Sciences, is made up of over 150,000 books and magazines about France, Europe and the Mediterranean. Its collection of 17th and 18th century popular prints are its crown jewels.
—Other available items include reference and professional, themed, geographic documents linked to Mucem’s areas of scientific interest.

- Textile know-how in the Mediterranean
-
From Friday 16 December 2022 to Friday 30 June 2023
The exhibition "Textile know-how in the Mediterranean", conceived by the Mucem and Itinérance, highlights what heritage, both tangible and intangible, can contribute to contemporary creation. For this project, young designers from the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs (National School of Decorative Arts) confronted the Mucem's collections of Mediterranean ex-votos in order to create a textile collection as part of their training; while students from the Casa Moda school in Casablanca (Morocco) were inspired by objects and rituals linked to traditional wedding ceremonies. The exhibition continues its journey through the Mediterranean via Tunisia and Greece, following in the footsteps of ethnologists who have studied these textile skills and meeting the craftswomen who still practice them today, striving to keep them alive and pass them on.
