Mucem communication

For several weeks now, the Mucem has been the target of criticism concerning one of its sponsors. Our attentive consideration of the alerts issued by citizens’ movements has led us, in complete neutrality, to give a voice to the activists denouncing this partnership and to ask the patron for clarification.
A petition circulating on social networks and an appeal to certain artists and researchers to withdraw from our programming are based on information that contradicts the factual elements available to us.

As a society museum with a strong focus on decolonial issues, we are particularly sensitive to the legitimate concerns expressed. However, the lack of rigor in the accusations unjustly discredits the high ethical standards of our scientific and cultural programming, which, by the very admission of the activists we wanted to meet, bears witness to a unique and indisputable commitment.
