SNCF Foundation

For more than 20 years, the SNCF Foundation has been supporting nonprofit projects that align with its three areas of focus: education, culture, and community outreach.

Culture is the key to opening up to the world. It provides common points of reference that bring people together and unite them around a shared, pluralistic vision of society. The SNCF Foundation introduces those who are otherwise cut off from it to cultural expressions that awaken the senses and open the mind.

That is why she chose to support one of the Mucem’s unifying projects, the Voyage&Mix project, which explores the theme of travel—whether dreamed of or experienced, successful or unsuccessful—as a source of inspiration for artists.

These projects, known as “Mix,” offer people who are otherwise excluded from cultural opportunities the chance to participate in a cultural and/or artistic project related to one of the Mucem’s temporary exhibitions.

Participants of various ages and backgrounds use this opportunity to learn about a museum’s mission and behind-the-scenes operations, as well as the steps involved in creating a temporary exhibition. They take part in an artistic project that showcases their talents both within the museum and beyond. In this way, they become the exhibition’s natural ambassadors.

Through this unifying project, the Mucem hopes to invite the people of Marseille—young and old alike—to embark on a journey, whether real or imagined.
