Engie Corporate Foundation

A patron of the Jardin des Migrations and the Mucem’s community-building projects.

The Mucem’s success can be attributed in large part to the decision to make its outdoor spaces freely accessible. At the heart of this initiative is the Jardin des Migrations, located at Fort Saint Jean and designed by the landscape architecture firm APS. This dry, eco-friendly Mediterranean garden is organized around a sensory and educational trail that explores the many ways plants have been integrated into landscapes and cultures. Located in the heart of the urban space, it is one of the fundamental components of the Mucem cultural complex. It serves as an extraordinary tool for raising public awareness of biodiversity issues.

In order to promote and develop the Jardin des Migrations, the Mucem public institution turned to the ENGIE Foundation, whose philosophy and initiatives are in line with the social, societal, and environmental commitment of the ENGIE Group, one of the world’s leading players in the energy sector.

As part of its commitment to solidarity, the ENGIE Corporate Foundation supports initiatives that assist people in vulnerable situations through two programs: “Children and Youth,” which focuses on health, universal access to culture, and education; and “Energy Solidarity,” which aims to improve access to energy for people in need. As part of the environmental component of its commitment, the Foundation promotes biodiversity, particularly through the protection of ecosystems and the fight against global warming. These programs are prioritized across all countries where the Group operates.

Since 2015, the Engie Corporate Foundation has also supported community-building projects led by the Mucem’s Public Engagement Department in collaboration with local sociocultural organizations around Mucem exhibitions (the Panora’mixtes projects in 2015, Babelmix in 2016, and Storymix in 2017).
