Virtuel Mucem, feedback day
Before opening its doors to the public in 2013, Mucem was already active. From 2005 to 2008, the museum provided access to its collections and surveys, physically through prefiguration exhibitions, and virtually through thematic websites. Having become technically obsolete, these sites were gradually taken offline, but were archived by the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, as part of the web’s legal deposit.
Winner of a call for projects from BnF’s Datalab, in partnership with Aix Marseille University, Mucem now has the opportunity to make these sites accessible to the Conservation and Resource Center once again.
They tell a triple story: that of their content, but also that of the Web, and that of an institution then in the making.
This one-day event provides an opportunity to rediscover these sites in context, as well as methodological presentations and testimonials on their production, archiving and remediation.
