Venezuelan song workshop

Pulsations! - Saturday shows and workshops

Practice course, for the general public

With Rebecca Roger Cruz

In this workshop, Rebecca Roger Cruz introduces you to the songs and rhythms of Venezuela (joropo, merengue, quitiplá), rich in centuries of creolization. Whether as a soloist, in a choir or on small percussion instruments, join in and feel the collective energy!

Rebecca Roger Cruz is the associate artist of Chœur Battant 2023-2024, a choir of 200 schoolchildren from the Pays d’Arles region.
A program devised by Les Suds à Arles.

  • Aa'in Saturday, February 3, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

    Aa’In © Erol Gum

    Concert

With Rebecca Roger Cruz (vocals, percussion, zapateado flamenco), Sergio Laguado (guitar, backing vocals) and Manuel Alejandro Sánchez (double bass, backing vocals)

It’s between Venezuela and Colombia, where humans, animals and spirits stop at no border, that Aa’in (meaning soul in the Wayuu language) draws its inspiration.

Restoring the soul of joropo, a genre common to both cultures, the concert blends Afro-Colombian rhythms and Venezuelan merengue with melodies from elsewhere: jazz, flamenco, tango. Over the percussive rhythms of the cuatro, the playful maracas and the quasi-rock riffs of the double bass, Rebecca Roger Cruz’s sensual voice shines…

A program devised by Les Suds à Arles.

    Full price: €10
    Reduced price: €7
