Une femme disparaît (The Lady Vanishes)
Ciné-concert
By Alfred Hitchcock (1938, 1h37), VOSTF
Live music by the musicians of the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence. Based on an original composition by Gilles Alonzo.
Conductor: Fabrice Pierre
Introduction by Vincent Giovannoni (Chief Curator, Mucem)
Considered a masterpiece of suspense, this feature film made on the eve of the Second World War is also resolutely political, criticizing a Nazi regime whose name will never be mentioned.
Through one of the characters, the film evokes, without being directly inspired by it, the work of the ethnologist and the survey-collections launched in the 1930s by the Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires, the forerunner of the Mucem.
An unexpected echo that particularly resonates as the film is presented for the first time in a ciné-concert version at the Mucem, performed by musicians from the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence to an original composition by Gilles Alonzo.
In partnership with the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille (MCM) and the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence
L’Onap, Orchestre national en Région is supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Département de Vaucluse, the Communauté d’Agglomération du Grand Avignon and the Ville d’Avignon.
The ciné-concert will be preceded by a screening of the animated film Le Cri, directed by students at the École des Nouvelles Images.
