To mark the 100th anniversary of Claude McKay’s arrival in France, Les Procès du siècle revisits the figure of the famous author of Banjowritten in 1929, recounts the adventures of a band of vagabonds living in the Marseilles harbor underworld.
A true precursor of the black cause and “a reference for the negritude movement” (Christiane Taubira), Claude McKay (1889-1948) was a committed poet whose work still echoes the struggles of racial minorities in France and the United States.
