To mark the opening of the Assises Méditerranéennes du Journalisme in Marseille, the Journalisme et Citoyenneté association, in partnership with Mucem and Nouvelles Rencontres d’Averroès, is organizing an evening of meetings on the subject of Syria.
The fall of Bashar Al Assad’s regime has raised immense hopes among the Syrian population and its diaspora, and the new authorities are now tackling the many challenges of stabilizing the country. In this period of transition, Syria’s independent media, which until now have operated in exile, are an essential link in the reconstruction process.
In a first round-table discussion, the speakers will look back at the period from 2011 to 2024, addressing issues of exile, memory and resistance through journalism and art.
In a second round-table discussion, they will discuss the current situation and how the media can contribute to the pacification of Syrian society.
