Seven short films on the program for this new screening!

  • The Tree of Hell By Raed Zeno (Lebanon, 2024, 20 min) - Documentary

    Raed discovers by chance that the beautiful tree growing in front of his house is an invasive species that threatens the environmental diversity of the Lebanese forest. He begins to explore the subject with his friend Hadi and Dr Muhammad, a specialist in invasive plants, at a time when the country is exposed to another kind of invasion, represented by Israeli attacks on human beings and their environment.

  • Akher Youm (The Last Day) Mahmoud Ibrahim (Fiction - 4'30 min - 2025 - Egypt)

    Starring : Mohamed Mahmoud, Ziad Reda

    Brothers Ziad and Moody spend their last moments in their family home, which they are forced to leave due to a demolition scheduled as part of the city’s development plans. To pass the time while they move the furniture outside, Moody turns on the TV, which soon broadcasts news about the demolition of Palestinian homes in Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem, casting a dark shadow over their already melancholy last day.

  • Aleya By Omar Abogabal (Documentary - 10 min - 2024 - Egypt)

    An intimate portrait of Aleya, a trans woman who recently left Cairo for Germany just after her transition. This portrait traces her first year as a woman, marked by the loss of loved ones, rejection by her family, and hormonal and psychological upheaval. Aleya shares personal stories, anecdotes and poems that document her transition journey.

    This short film is part of the collective audiovisual project “Voix de et vers : une diaspora”, 2024.

  • A Promise to the Sea By Hend Sohail (Fiction - 14 min - 2023 - Egypt)

    Starring Gerges Laban Aazwza, Emad Yaakoub Riyad, Osama Taha

    After making the irrational decision to steal his mother’s body during funeral preparations, Zain wanders away from his modest hometown and takes to the highway, where he is confronted with a situation that will change his life forever.

  • Ozr El Wezzah (A Goose Excuse) By Mahdy Abo Bahat & Abdo Zin Eldin (Experimental - 25 min - 2024 - Egypt)

    A celestial force enters a village to investigate the sleep of a peasant and his ungodly goose. Guided by the hum of a spectral device, the celestial presence soon detects the esoteric frequencies of a spiritual reality hidden in the peasant’s home and lands.

  • Generous Bodies Achref Toumi (Experimental - 8 min - 2024 - Tunisia)

    In a neighborhood of Bhar Lazrak, Tunis, residents live under the imminent threat of the state, which plans to demolish the area. Built spontaneously during the 2011 revolution by a group of people without state authorization, the neighborhood now faces an uncertain fate. One evening, mysterious lights appear in the neighborhood, breaking the silence of the sleepers.
