Samia

Ciné-dimanche

By Philippe Faucon (France, 2000, 1h13)

With Lynda Benahouda, Mohamed Chaouch, Kheria Oualhaci

Fifteen-year-old Samia lives on the outskirts of Marseille. The sixth of eight children from a very traditional Algerian family, she suffocates under the weight of a morality made up of beliefs and prohibitions that she respects but no longer shares… Yacine, the older brother, is unemployed and finds legitimacy only in acting as the guardian of family and religious traditions. The eldest sister, Amel, excludes herself from the family by pursuing a relationship with a boy from a different culture. The other sisters are determined to succeed in school. As for Samia, pursued by academic failures, displaced towards a technical education she doesn’t want, forced to live clandestinely with a first flirt, she becomes aware of the absolute necessity of not letting anyone decide her life.

Soberly staged, shot with non-professional actors, this is a film of striking realism and profound humanity.

Presentation by Antonia Naïm (programmer).

Screening followed by an opportunity to exchange views, share experiences and discuss the issues raised by the film and the question of sorority as a lever for emancipation. Hosted by Daphne Charveriat, founder of “Sista4good”, and accompanied by representatives of the “Sista4good” and “Sororité Inter Quartiers” associations, partners in the “Destination Mucem” project, the screening will conclude with a convivial moment in the Forum room!

  • Destination Mucem

“Destination Mucem” is an innovative mobility scheme for audiences with little or no familiarity with museums: on Sundays, a free collection bus runs from outlying districts of Marseilles (North, East and South), serving 3 different routes in alternation, enabling new audiences to create a special link with the museum.

During the journey (around 45 minutes), passengers enjoy a personalized, fun mediation service in a friendly atmosphere. Specially designed around the theme of travel and expedition, this mediation led by tour guides prepares the visit.

When the bus arrives at the Mucem, passengers are given a free admission ticket. Reception and mediation staff then take over to prepare a tour adapted to each passenger. Several options are available to passengers throughout the day. They can of course visit the exhibitions, but also simply stroll through the gardens of Fort Saint-Jean, enjoy the exceptional panoramic views over the city and the sea, share a family picnic, take part in workshops for children, attend a show or watch a film in the auditorium… Families can also take advantage of “Treasure Island”, a game on tablet for 3-12 year olds (subject to sanitary conditions).

In this way, the Mucem hopes to win the loyalty of these new audiences over the long term.
