"Postcolonial", "neocolonial", "decolonial": theories, resiliencies or catchphrases?

Les Procès du siècle - Shared struggles

  • Debate-
  • Meeting

With Mame-Fatou Niang (teacher-researcher and artist) and Seumboy Vrainom :€ (artist and activist)
Moderator: Nora Hamadi
With the participation of Hélia Paukner, heritage curator, head of the Contemporary Art department at Mucem.

This new season of Les Procès du siècle aims to go back to the origins of class, race and gender assignments that are still prevalent in our societies, and whose origins lie in the mechanisms of colonial domination. Throughout the season, we’ll come across recurring terms that need to be clarified: “postcolonial”, “neocolonial”, “decolonial”… What exactly does this mean? What theories, nuances and worldviews lie behind each of these terms? Why are they so hotly debated?
