To mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we take a look back at the Me Too movement, questioning its ability to set an example as a viral social movement capable of changing mentalities and shifting legal lines.
On Saturday November 23, the Mayor of Marseille will inaugurate the “esplanade Gisèle Halimi” in front of the Mucem, as part of a week of events to mark World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25.

Rokhaya Diallo is an award-winning French journalist, author and film-maker. She is a columnist for the Washington Post and the Guardian, and a researcher at the Gender+Justice Initiative Research Center at Georgetown University (Washington). In France, she teaches cultural studies at Paris 1 – Sorbonne and is a columnist for television and radio. Rokhaya Diallo is the author of a dozen books and comic strips, and has made several documentaries. With Grace Ly, she also created “Kiffe Ta Race” (Binge Audio), the first French-language podcast dedicated to racial issues and ranked as one of the best podcasts by Apple. In 2022, Rokhaya Diallo founded W.O.R.D., the first school dedicated to public speaking, with the aim of democratizing access to the public sphere.

Anne Bouillon is a lawyer at the Nantes bar, ranked in 2019 among the top 3 most powerful lawyers in France. A passionate advocate, Anne Bouillon is committed to fighting violence against women every day. In 2023, director Dylan Besseau devoted a documentary to her: Anne Bouillon. Justice for all!
Nadège Beausson Diagne
Nadège Beausson-Diagne is an actress, writer, director and singer. She works in television, cinema and theater.
A committed feminist, Nadège created the #MeToo in African cinema #MemePasPeur, getting involved in the fight against sexual violence.
She writes and performs Mon Corps est une Révolution! a poetic one-woman show that invites collective reparation. Nadège reclaims her body, her soul, and reinvents herself beyond stereotypes. Her artistic expression now enjoys a new freedom.
