Living in Beirut
Jean Rouch International Festival
By Michel Tabet (France / Lebanon, 2023, 45 min) – VOSTFR
August 4, 2020: Explosion in Beirut The combination of these words is not in itself surprising. Beirut has always exploded. It’s a city intimately linked with war. And yet this explosion is unlike any other. It concentrates all the country’s crises and sums up all the wars it has been through. Through testimonies, images and sounds gathered from residents who have lived through this ordeal, this film looks at the explosion as an intimate, inner experience.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Michel Tabet, Laurent Pellé, general delegate of the Festival, and Claire Lissalde, head of IRD’s audiovisual department.
