Leisure, nature sports and transition(s)? State of play, debates and controversies

Study days  

Port of arrival for the Olympic flame, Marseille will be the host city for the Games of the 33rd Olympiad in 2024. The Vélodrome stadium will host soccer matches, while sailing competitions will take place on the harbor. It’s against this backdrop that the “Enjeux des Jeux. Sports practices, natural heritage and transition”, organized as part of the “Territoire et patrimoine du sport” program of the Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l’homme in Aix-en-Provence and the Maison des sciences de l’homme Sud-est in Nice.

Researchers, heritage professionals, representatives of local authorities, associations, athletes, sports leaders, journalists and artists will meet to discuss the evolution of sporting practices in natural spaces and the transitions underway. The 12th Rencontres du Patrimoine Sportif, organized since 2011 between Nice and Marseille, will be extended by two study days and a round-table discussion devoted to the viewpoints of contemporary artists.
