Green business: environment and profits in the industrial age

Study day

Industrial ecology, the circular economy and decarbonization are playing an increasingly important role in public policy and corporate strategy. The media coverage of these concepts and the potential upheavals they engender in various sectors of activity invite historians to question their origins and realities.

The aim of this study day is to define the contours of the greening of production practices by analyzing, over time, the way in which public and private players have seized upon environmental issues to transform them into economic opportunities. From environmental management, designed to build a brand image, to the new markets for depollution, the recycling economy, the reuse of materials and energy optimization, this event explores the different facets of green entrepreneurship in the industrial age, from the 19th century to the present day.
