Gender transition: is society really on board?

Les procès du siècle - Feminism, gender, minorities

  • Debate-
  • Meeting

With Farrah Youssef (transfeminist activist and community worker) and Océan (actor, director)
Moderation: Victoire Tuaillon.

In France, from gender studies to the democratization of the notion of gender fluidity, the issue of transidentity has recently become a topic of public debate. More and more transgender people, who don’t recognize themselves in the assigned gender – male or female – that they were born with, are taking the step of “transitioning”, or changing their sexual identity.
What is it like to be transgender? How do transgender people fit into society? What measures are taken by educational and professional circles? What are the political responses? What types of discrimination do they face? What about children and teenagers?
