Feminicides, the more we talk about them, the more they increase?
Les Procès du siècle - Shared struggles
With Souad El Maysour (visual artist) and Christelle Taraud (historian)
Moderator: Rokhaya Diallo
With the participation of Caroline Chenu, in charge of research and collections at Mucem.
In a November 2022 study, the UN estimated that every hour, an average of five women had been killed by someone close to them in 2021… Five women per hour! The report called this figure “a stark reminder that violence against women and girls is one of the most frequent human rights abuses in the world”.
Unfortunately, this is nothing new. In every country in the world, in every era, women have been killed because they were women. This new session of the Trials of the Century examines this continuum of violence: the more we talk about feminicide, the more we count it, and the more it increases?
