Dark Circus
Let's go, kids! - Family Christmas vacations
Musical and drawing show for ages 8 and up
Cie Stereoptik
Created and performed by Romain Bermond and Baptiste Maillet
Based on a story by Pef
Outside view: Frédéric Maurin
On the Dark Circus ring, all the artists fail in their acts: the trapeze artist falls, the tamer is eaten, the cannon man makes a bad landing. Until one day…
In this show, we are enchanted by images drawn to music. In Romain Bermond’s hands, charcoal, ink, cut-out paper and small puppets draw constantly changing black-and-white pictures. Jean-Baptiste Maillet, on keyboards, bass and harmonica, among other instruments, brings them to life. His infallible rhythm and ample, shimmering or melancholy melodies envelop the story of this topsy-turvy world. For the past ten years, this inseparable duo has been offering a poetic, handcrafted theater of images, where the eye travels between the drawing table and the big screen. The beauty of the gesture, the magic of the line, the metamorphosis of a silhouette or a landscape give rise to a three-dimensional world that pulsates and fills us with wonder.
