Cinecoletivo

COLETIVO

Decolonial film collectives

The two presentations of this study day at MucemLab are coupled with screening-debates at La Baleine and Vidéodrome2.

We’ll be showcasing the work of two community film collectives, one from Brazil – Video na Aldeais, and the other from Guinea-Bissau, Mediateca Abotacha. Both collectives enable local communities to express themselves through audiovisual practices. But beyond simply representing the reality of the community as seen from the inside, rather than from a colonial perspective, the films produced are truly creative and cinematographic works, winning prizes and selections at international festivals (Berlinale, IDFA Amsterdam, Jean Rouch, etc.).
