Building your dream
Festival of Vocations
Round table
With Malek Boukerchi (anthropologist and marathon runner), Dorine Bourneton (aerobatic pilot, winner of the Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet Foundation Vocation Prize )
Moderator: Étienne Klein (philosopher of science, producer of “La Conversation scientifique” on France Culture)
They had everything stacked against them, but their passion was unshakeable… They found the strength to build, step by step, the dream that seemed out of reach. And now they’re working hard to help the most vulnerable never give up. Meet Malek Boukerchi and Dorine Bourneton.
The son of Berber immigrants, raised in a sensitive neighborhood, Malek Boukerchi dreamed of roaming the deserts… Now an extreme marathon runner and anthropologist, he puts his passion at the service of youth integration. He is the organizer of the “42”: young people who have dropped out of school or vocational training are prepared for the marathon, which they run with him in Athens. The aim is to rebuild their self-esteem.
Deprived of the use of her legs following a plane accident at the age of 15, Dorine Bourneton became an aerobatic pilot. From that point on, she has been a tireless advocate of access for people with disabilities to professions supposedly inaccessible to them.
