Basketry workshop

Plein air! Saturday workshops

With Gabriel Thiney, wickerworker and basket-maker

Timeless and universal, basketry takes on an infinite diversity of forms, uses, techniques and materials. This discipline, which seems to have its roots far in the past, is not unique to man, since birds, insects and even plants weave or braid the essences that surround them…

Through the creation of a basket, this workshop leads us to the discovery of the original and archaic dimension of basketry. There’s no need for any particular technique here: just feel and understand the wicker and its possibilities, work with it, and weave it together strand by strand, just as a bird makes its nest.
