Enjoy a free preview of the “Amazighes – Cycles, ornaments, motifs” exhibition, featuring 150 objects and works from the 19th century to the present day.

During the open house, the Place d’Armes at Fort Saint-Jean will be the venue for an exceptional concert by singer Oum and her musicians, extending the discovery of contemporary Amazigh culture. Culinary specialities and a tattoo stand (with henna!) are also on offer.

  • 7pm - Mucem, Fort Saint-Jean, Place d'Armes - free admission Oum quartet Concert With Oum (vocals and percussion), Yacir Rami (oud), Camille Passerie (trumpet), Amar Chaoui (percussion)

Considered the soul voice of Morocco, Oum embodies the poetry and traditional roots of her country at their most inspiring and timeless.
Created especially for this concert, this quartet presents a particularly intimate and delicate version of the Moroccan singer’s repertoire.

Originally from Casablanca, Oum El Ghaït Ben Essahraoui was first assimilated into the nayda, a movement of young Moroccan musicians attracted by more urban sounds. Released only in Morocco, the albums Lik’Oum (2009) and Sweerty (2012) made her a star in her homeland. An important turning point came. The singer-songwriter began writing in Darija, a common Moroccan Arabic dialect. This gave her the opportunity to exploit a new musicality in words, as well as new combinations of meaning, a whole poetry of assonance that she explored in her albums Soul of Morocco (2013) and Zarabi (2015). In her latest album Daba (2019), Oum blends traditional Arab and Saharan elements with soul, jazz and electro sounds.
