Aa'in
Pulsations! - Saturday shows and workshops
Concert
With Rebecca Roger Cruz (vocals, percussion, zapateado flamenco), Sergio Laguado (guitar, backing vocals) and Manuel Alejandro Sánchez (double bass, backing vocals)
It’s between Venezuela and Colombia, where humans, animals and spirits stop at no border, that Aa’in (meaning soul in the Wayuu language) draws its inspiration.
Restoring the soul of joropo, a genre common to both cultures, the concert blends Afro-Colombian rhythms and Venezuelan merengue with melodies from elsewhere: jazz, flamenco, tango. Over the percussive rhythms of the cuatro, the playful maracas and the quasi-rock riffs of the double bass, Rebecca Roger Cruz’s sensual voice shines…
A program devised by Les Suds à Arles.
