Il s'agit d'une matrice en métal moulé de forme cubique. La face principale comporte quatre pans coupés avec au centre un poinçon en creux loclisé à l'intérieur d'une rainure. Il se compose d'une partie centrale circulaire qui s'achèvent par deux branches triangulaire avec un angle coupé.
