Portrait de Chilpéric Ier, en médaillon, représenté en buste, de trois-quarts. Le souverain, portant la barbe et des moustaches, est coiffé d'une couronne et vêtu d'une cape rouge posée sur ses épaules. Deux soldats Mérovingiens armés de lance, de bouclier et coiffés de casque se livrent bataille au milieu d'autres soldats blessés à terre.
