Maître Pathelin simule la folie et part en courant dans la rue afin de ne pas payer la femme qui se tient près de lui. Il lève les bras en l'air et se dirige vers un homme qui se retourne pour le regarder. D'après les vêtements des personnages, la scène se déroule au Moyen Age.
