Dans un jardin potager muni d'une serre et où sont cultivées des salades, conversent un homme et son jardinier. Celui-ci porte un tablier et tient à la main gauche un arrosoir rempli d'eau, dont il est malencontreusement en train de verser le contenu dans le chapeau que l'homme tient à la main.
