Au recto, au premier plan, un homme d'église à longue barbe blanche est vétu d'un habit marron. Il tient une épée dans sa man gauche et une petite croix en bois dans sa main droite. A l'arrière-plan, une forteresse. Cette scène est tiré des "Burgaves", drame de Victor Hugo. En bas, à gauche, une photographie d'Eugène Silvain. En bas, à droite, une citation signée par celui-ci.
