In Love in the Louvre, the art of love and the love of art have been intimately entwined, from ancient times to the modern period. Through a critical selection of forty works of art – including both famed masterpieces and little-known gems – this book celebrates this inexhaustible theme and offers an original look at the collections of the world’s finest museum. Jean Claude Bologne is a historian and professor of medieval iconography at ICART in Paris. He has published two dozen works of fiction, dictionaries, and non-fiction, and was awarded a literary prize by the Academie Française in 1986 (Prix Théroigne). Elisa de Halleux is a doctor of Art History and has published a book on Renaissance iconography. She lectures frequently in France and the United Kingdom.
