A Néprajzi Múzeum fontosnak tartja a hazai nemzeti és etnikai kisebbségek életmódjának, társadalmi helyzetének és kulturális szokásainak bemutatását, hogy aktívan segítse a különböző csoportok közötti közeledést, egyúttal hozzájáruljon az alávetett csoportok önbecsülésének növekedéséhez, a velük szembeni előítéletek csökkentéséhez. A kiállítás különböző, a társadalom és a gazdaság peremére szorított mesterségről, kiváltképp azok képviselőiről szól, jobbára vándoriparosokról, akik az iparűzők közötti társadalmi hierarchia legmarginálisabb rétegét jelentették. The Museum of Ethnography considers it important to present the lifestyle, social situation and cultural habits of the national and ethnic minorities in Hungary, in order to actively promote rapprochement between different groups, and at the same time to contribute to the growth of the self-esteem of the subordinate groups and to the reduction of prejudices against them. The exhibition is about various crafts pushed to the margins of society and the economy, especially their representatives, mostly itinerant craftsmen, who represented the most marginal layer of the social hierarchy among craftsmen.
