Eliezer (Lazar) Markovich Lissitzky, El Lissitzky (1890-1941) is one of the most influential and genuinely experimental artists of the early twentieth century. He worked with the Soviets after the after the October Revolution of 1917, with European avant-garde art in the 1920s, and a propagandist of the Stalinist regime throughout the 1930s until his dead. He was a painter, graphic designer and typographer, designer of exhibitions, architect and photographer. One of the most important characteristics of his life and work was the crossing of borders and frontiers.
